How to reach the city centre from the Gdańsk airport?

The airport is ca. 17 km away from the centre of Gdańsk. No wonder the visitors want to know how to reach the city centre, where most of them book their accommodation. There are a few opportunities. We would like to show you the most important options.

Public transport – by bus

You can use public transport and hop on a bus to reach the city centre, and more specifically, the railway station in Gdańsk. Line 210 runs every 40 minutes and the journey takes more or less 50 minutes. You can also take line 110 from the airport, which will take you to Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz, or line 122, which runs to Sopot. These lines run only during the day, so if your plane arrives at night, you can only use line N3, which runs between the railway station and Gdańsk Wrzeszcz, and stops in between these two places, at the airport. The night line runs once an hour.

The advantage of going by bus is the cheap price of the ticket – a single bus fare for an adult is less than 4 PLN/ nearly 1 EUR. Unfortunately, it means you have to wait at the bus stop. Plus, if you go by bus, you may have to walk some distance to your accommodation, unless you’re lucky enough to have booked your overnight stay near the bus stop. If not, you will have to look for another means of transport, which might be troublesome.

Airport transfer

An alternative to public transport is a transfer from the Gdańsk airport organised by special companies. You can arrange to be picked up from the airport and taken straight to your hotel. If you provide the time when your plane touches down, the driver will be waiting for you. Once you get off the plane, you go straight to the car and will be whisked off to the place where you booked your accommodation. If it’s near the railway station, the journey will take ca. 25-30 minutes, which is half the time you need to get there by bus. If you choose this option, you will save some time and travel in a more comfortable setting, comparable to a taxi, but much cheaper.

Taxi

The most expensive way to reach your accommodation from the Gdańsk airport is a taxi. Some believe it’s the most comfortable means of transport and a perfect option for those who don’t know you can book airport transfer in advance to get to your destination at a cheaper price.
