Melia has signed a deal with Asset World Corporation
(AWC) to open a 260-key hotel in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
Slated to open in Q4 2021, the hotel will
join two other Melia hotels in the Kingdom – the much loved Melia Koh Samui
on Choeng Mon Beach,
and the INNSiDE by Melia Bangkok Sukhumvit which is scheduled to
welcome its first guests in 2022.
“With its exceptional location in the heart of
Chiang Mai and an unparalleled array of facilities, Melia Chiang
Mai is a landmark project of our strategic roll-out of the Melia
brand in Thailand, in line with AWC’s growth-led strategy,” said Khun Wallapa Traisorat, AWC’s CEO
and President. “Partnering with Melia has allowed us to set a new
benchmark for Thai hospitality and together, we aim to build a
better future for Thailand’s tourism landscape and economy.”
The Melia Chiang Mai, formerly the Pornping Tower
Hotel, is located on Charoen Prathet
Road, approximately six kilometres from Chiang Mai International Airport
(CNX) and within easy walking distance of a whole range of popular restaurants, bars, markets
and tourist attractions.
The renovated hotel features two restaurants, two bars, two lounges, a spa with seven treatment rooms,
a fitness center, swimming pool, a ballroom and four more meeting
and event spaces.
Of the property’s room portfolio, 38 rooms and 6
suites belong to ‘The Level’, guests of which can enjoy
access to the executive lounge on the 21st floor offering
panoramic views of Chiang Mai, upgraded breakfast options,
afternoon delicacies and evening cocktails.
Melia Chiang Mai’s jewel in the crown will be a
360-degree rooftop bar on the 22nd
floor. Featuring two bars connected by a glass bridge, the bar
will offer views of the River Ping to the city’s east and Doi Suthep to the west.
“The global pandemic could not dampen our
determination to unveil an extraordinary hotel that promises to
exude the mystic splendor of Northern Thailand with Melia’s warm
Spanish hospitality, distinctive passion for service and focus on
the customer’s wellbeing ever-present,” said Mr Edward Snoeks,
Melia Chiang Mai’s General Manager.
