‘Riverdale’ Season 6 Preview: Time Travel, More Sabrina Spellman, and ‘American Psycho: The Musical’
[ad_1]
Riverdale Season 6 is well underway, but its exciting twists and turns are far from over. According to a few recent reports, the CW series has a few big episodes coming up, including the annual musical episode and the return of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s Sabrina Spellman. Plus, one of the main Riverdale characters will gain a new power: time travel. Here’s a preview of what the rest of Riverdale Season 6 has in store.
[Spoiler alert: The following story contains spoilers for the first half of Riverdale Season 6.]
‘Riverdale’ Season 6 Episode 11 will take Tabitha back in time
Earlier this season, Archie Andrews (KJ Apa), Betty Cooper (Lili Reinhart), and Jughead Jones (Cole Sprouse) developed superpowers as a result of the explosion in Archie’s bedroom. Archie has super strength, while Betty can sense a person’s evil intentions, and Jughead can read minds. Now, it looks like Tabitha Tate (Erinn Westbrook) will gain the ability to time travel.
The newest episode of Riverdale, airing on Sunday, April 24, will see Percival Pickens (Chris O’Shea) target Tabitha in his plans to take over the town. However, she’ll get sent back in time in the process. Here’s the episode’s full synopsis:
“After learning that Percival’s plan to reinvigorate Riverdale would lead to the demise of Pop’s, Tabitha searches for a way to fight back and is targeted for it; the incident sends her back in time searching for answers.”
Entertainment Weekly shared some preview photos of the new Riverdale Season 6 episode, featuring Tabitha in a few different time periods. Plus, the episode’s trailer (seen below) shows her revealing her new power to Jughead.
Sabrina Spellman will return to ‘Riverdale’ later in the season
Riverdale fans haven’t seen the last of Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka). The no-longer-teenage witch crossed over from Chilling Adventures of Sabrina to Riverdale in the first half of season 6 to lend some supernatural help to her friend, Cheryl Blossom (Madelaine Petsch). Now that the CW teen drama has taken a full dive into supernatural elements, Sabrina’s help might be needed again.
As TVLine reported, Kiernan Shipka is set to reprise her role again. However, it’s not clear when she’ll appear. Cheryl is currently managing her new pyrokinetic abilities after she was possessed by her ancestor, Abigail, and it seems likely Abigail could return again.
Shipka spoke with E! Online back in December, revealing that she “wouldn’t rule out” more Riverdale visits.
“The thing that I love most about the Archie-verse, is that anything kind of goes,” she said. “Anything could be justified and brought back to life in ways that are reasonable because the world is so fantastical and magical. So, at the end of the day, it is possible. I wouldn’t rule anything out.”
The CW show’s next musical will be ‘American Psycho’
Riverdale Season 6 couldn’t go without its musical episode. According to TVLine, the next musical is coming up soon — American Psycho: The Musical. Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa wrote the book for the musical, so it’s a perfect match for the town’s residents. American Psycho: The Musical adapts the original novel and film about serial killer Patrick Bateman.
New episodes of Riverdale premiere every Sunday at 8 p.m. ET on the CW. Stay tuned to Showbiz Cheat Sheet for more updates.
