CATEX 2023 launches with sustainability and innovation top of the bill

It just been announced that CATEX – Ireland’s largest foodservice & hospitality event – is now confirmed for 21-23 February 2023 at the RDS Simmonscourt, returning to its normal biannual dates of early in the year. Supported once again by steadfast sponsors, Bunzl and Calor, the 2023 event is hoping to return to the successful heights of 2019 when the expo welcomed its biggest-ever attendance of 12,500 industry professionals who met with 250+ exhibitors over the three-days.

A real celebration of skills, service, excellence and innovation within foodservice and hospitality, CATEX is one of Europe’s longest-running trade events that’s incredibly well-supported by the industry.

Owned and delivered by IFSA (Irish Foodservice Suppliers Alliance), sustainability and innovation will be top of the bill at the 2023 event.  The 2021 Bord Bia ‘Outlook on the Irish Foodservice Industry Post Pandemic Foodservice Report’ noted that as the pandemic took hold, many foodservice and hospitality businesses paused their efforts in sustainability. However, in its ‘Key Macro Trends to Watch in 2021 (and Beyond)’, the report notes a ‘Return to Sustainable Practices’ as a key macro trend.

IFSA, in association with its event partners, have identified sustainability, alongside innovation, as the major themes for CATEX 2023.

Commenting on plans for the 2023 event, the new Chair of IFSA, Alan Cruite, General Manager of Trinity Purchasing Ireland, part of the Avendra Group, an affiliate of Aramark, adds: “In 2021, we organised CATEX in record time – in just 12 weeks – and I’m incredibly proud of my colleagues in IFSA for stepping up and offering a platform and event for our industry to come together during an incredibly difficult time. The supportive and tremendous feedback from the event cemented just how special CATEX is to our industry.

“Looking ahead, we’re delighted to be entering a brighter year. Albeit there are still many challenges, however we’re set on designing CATEX 2023 to ensure it offers something for everyone in the industry. It’s long been recognised as the must-attend event for foodservice and hospitality, and we’re confident that CATEX 2023 will deliver incredible value to both exhibitors and visitors as we move forward.”

CATEX partners with foodservice and hospitality bodies to deliver an event that’s for industry, supported by industry.  Partners include Chef Network, Panel of Chefs, Speciality Coffee Association (Ireland chapter), Bartenders Association of Ireland and the European Speciality Tea Association.

Over the last 50 years CATEX has established itself as a major force in the hospitality and foodservice industries. By booking early, exhibitors can take advantage of securing prime positioning and being included in the promotional campaign in the run up to the show.
