Disney’s Star Wars hotel will take guests to a galaxy far, far away at a price very, very high

CLEVELAND, Ohio — I’m not sure what the dollars to galactic credits exchange rate is, but you’re going to need a lot of either to travel on the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.

Disney announced the price for its immersive two-night adventure aboard the Halcyon, the setting of a Star Wars-themed hotel outside Orlando that looks like but is not actually a spaceship where you’re followed by professional cosplayers asking you to join their rebellion.

Standard cabin rates start at $4,809 for two guests and top out at $5,999 for four guests, as long as one of them is a child. Disney didn’t disclose the cost of the Galaxy Class and Grand Captain suites, which add one or two bedrooms plus additional windows with views of “outer space.” Meals, featuring cuisine from across the galaxy (think Tip-Yip and Blue Milk), are included, though you can opt to sit at the Captain’s Table away from all the scruffy-looking nerf herders on board for an additional fee.

The itinerary includes activities such as lightsaber training, a droid racing competition, sabaac tournament and excursions to the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge attractions next door at the Disney’s Hollywood Studios theme park. You’ll also encounter familiar and new “Star Wars” characters and experience “unexpected” story moments when you’re asked if you’d like to join an elite smuggling ring or help steal a ship from the First Order. Disney says every guest’s stay is unique. Just keep your wits about you because spies — First Order and Resistance — are everywhere.

Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser opens in the spring of 2022.
